How to setup Exchange-based email accounts on your Smartphone

Setting up an Exchange email account on your mobile device can be a little trickier than setting up a Gmail or Office 365 account. Keep reading for instructions specifically for Apple devices and Android devices.

Apple Devices

Follow these steps to set up your Exchange-based email on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch:

  1. Go to Settings Mail Accounts and tap Add account.
  2. On the Add account page, select Exchange.
  3. Enter your full email address and password, then tap Next.
  4. At this point, you may have to enter additional information such as your Server name and Domain. If you don't have that information please contact the Helpdesk.
  5. Choose which items (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Notes) you'd like to sync with your device and tap Save.

Android Devices

While the appearance of Android can vary greatly between devices and manufacturers, the following steps should help guide you through the setup of an Exchange-based mail account on an Android phone or tablet:

  1. Go to Settings Accounts Add account, and then tap Email.
  2. Enter your full email address and password, then tap Next.
  3. Select Exchange.
  4. Once your server settings are verified, the Account Options page should be displayed. Scroll down and tap Next.
  5. You should now see the Set up email page. On this page you'll have the option to change the name of the account on your device, though this isn't required. Tap Done.
