How to Set up 2-Step Authentication with the Google Authenticator App (Android)

Google offers two apps that provide 2-Step Authentication:

      • The Google App allows you to simply push Yes on your phone in order to log into your account.
      • The Google Authenticator App gives you a code that you enter into your computer (see image below).
  1. Download the Google Authenticator App at the Google Play Store.
  2. From your computer, go to https://myaccount.google.com/.
  3. Click Sign-in & Security, then click Signing in to Google, and then click 2-step verification.
  4. Enter your password.
  5. Turn on 2-step verification if you are not already using it. Google will send a code to your phone for you to enter.
  6. From the 2-Step Verification settings page, click Android.
  7. Open the Google Authenticator App on your phone.
  8. Tap Begin Setup, and then tap Set up account.
  9. Select Enter provided key, then enter your email address next to "Enter account name".
  10. Enter the key on your computer screen in the "Enter your key" box.
  11. Now, enter the verification code on your phone screen onto your computer next to Code. Click Verify.
  12. Click Save to complete the setup.
